2/ Has Garland decided to basically let it all go but not mention it? I get that Matt Gaetz is a sexual scumbag but I think thousands of children being forcibly separated from their parents at the border is worse. Gaetz but not Steven Miller?

3/ This country never recovered from the fact that we never definitively learned who killed JFK. Ford pardoning Nixon was another bad mark for American justice. People don’t just “move on” in those cases; a poison lingers in the air.

4/ Moving forward now without attempting any prosecution or possible punishment of those who worked assiduously to destroy our democracy for 4 years, is unacceptable. Without fear of reprisal, those people will use the next 4 years to plan how to do it again but better next time.

The idea of exceptionality as proposed by the German conservative political philosopher Carl Schmitt is a good formula for imploding your entire civilization. According to Schmitt, the head of state is all powerful & can suspend law & make exceptions where he sees fit.
