Why is there a Binary? It doesn't have to be this, or that. Corporate profits can exist while we work towards the well being of the people and the planet. There aren't competing interests here. Growth in value in processes for businesses can create more abundance for all

As long as short term corporate profits take precedence over the health and well-being of people & planet, the best we can do is manage America’s decline...just making it slower & more prolonged. We need a fundamental pattern disruption, a coalition of conscience & consciousness.

Of course there can be corporate profits! But when through low corporate taxes, corporate subsidies, squeezing rights and pay from workers & community, extreme privatization & deregulation, then absolutely there are competing interests because it becomes an unfair playing field.

I'm glad you agree profits can and should exist. I wonder sometimes as other folks tend to forget how economies build value. We can also agree that specific corporate subsidies are certainly not free markets, and instead are a system where government picks winners....

In a free market, which we should hope to have, you have consensual transactions between adults. These transactions are deliverance of wealth for value. It's unfair to claim exploitation for someone acting in accordance with their own desire for the value of a product/service.
