The worst aspect of medicalizing anxiety disorders and common forms of mental depression is that it distracts attention from social and economic causes such stress over crushing debt, lack of opportunity and a corrupt food system. We need to look at causes, not just symptoms.

If we take a systemic view more often than not it is an issue with the environment and not the individual. ‘Researchers Doubt That Certain Mental Disorders Are Disorders At All’ forbes.com/sites/alisonescal…

I'd go further and say that the socioeconomic environment isn't a mere cause but a constituent of mental pathologies.

One of the most underappreciated factors to good mental health is serving others. The entitlement culture of the last 40 years has destroyed the home, neighborhood and community where good mental health is formed

All truth. We have to collectively see that most of these issues stem from people not having enough. I don't know why we're so devoted to not seeing the causes.

I know you will get a lot of flack for this but its very true! Ive been struggling with major depression for over 10 years now, tried every therapy and pill there is and i’m still here. I need the world to be kinder to live and a doctor can’t do that alone.
