The worst aspect of medicalizing anxiety disorders and common forms of mental depression is that it distracts attention from social and economic causes such stress over crushing debt, lack of opportunity and a corrupt food system. We need to look at causes, not just symptoms.

Totally agree! All those things you mentioned play such a huge roll in creating anxiety & depression in our society. We need to address them to help heal this country. ✌🏼❤️

I would respectfully disagree. The worst part is that mega corporations are making money from this state of affairs continuing.

You're right ... drugs only dampen the symptoms ... while the cause of those symptoms are allowed to exist ... and in some cases ... flourish!

A lot of “mental” disorders are actually mis-diagnosed thyroid and other endocrine disorders. Hypothyroidism is often under diagnosed, and then treated with Synthroid (T4 only). This site is an amazing resource for all things thyroid: thyroidpatients.ca

I think sometimes it’s two fold. I have C-PTSD which for me largely manifests in anxiety. Sometimes this is completely irrational and connected to trauma, however, I definitely notice if I am under stress (financial stress, unhappy at work, etc) my symptoms are much worse.
