To all the materialists who think the incredible designs of nature - including on fish, birds, flowers and even caterpillars - emerge from nothing more than the most reductionist scientific evolutionary forces, I joyously disagree with you.

I shouldn’t have used the word “reductionist” that way. The people criticizing me on that one are right. My bad. Sorry.

dunno, God would be a cruel taskmaster to demand hummingbirds & even butterflies migrate over the Gulf. One thing is for sure human is the only complaining animal! Hummers don't gripe, they 'JUST DO IT', risking their lives!

"design of nature" implies that nature is a conscious force and some form of deity, i dont find the premise that evolution or "accidental" design through trial and error created such complex and intricate life forms devoid of joy, on the contrary, i find that idea quite beautiful

To all humans who think we can continue to abuse the earth without destroying it I disagree with you

Nature and science are awe inspiring on their own. No need to add human attributes to wonder of it. I joyously disagree with you!

If someone made or designed them, then they also made or designed bone cancer for babies. Not so joyous. youtube.com/-suvkwNYSQo

1) I'd rather stick with ideas that can be understood through studying the factor, and not handwaving and assuming supernatural forces created it. 2) This isa rather humancentric viewpoint. All the organisms you listed are animals with pretty colors and pretty designs....
