More than 2 million of our children are traumatized by homelessness, further traumatized by policeman breaking up the homeless camp, likely traumatized at school, then called a “mental health crisis” & often end up in jail; yet the system offers little more than more brute force.

These are policy choices - the public does more than the system - its hard to overcome attitudes entrenched from 400 years of genocide and chattel slavery

Get on the streets and help them. Government can't.

Our society due to Conservative ideals criminalizes poverty instead of finding ways to help people lift themselves up.

Well said. I’ve worked “in the trenches” in a High school mental health setting for 14 years with these kids. The trauma they tolerate is brutal. And not addressed effectively in most cases. We try, is the best I can say.

So unfortunate that so many adults in positions of power don't understand this. Child poverty needs to be addressed, but not by faulting parents who probably experienced this also. We all need to work together.

We could use your help in Medford, Oregon. Last night our city council passed an unconstitutional ordinance that makes homelessness a crime with a misdemeanor charge and 6 months in prison, for the crime of sleeping. More info here: facebook.com/117653973482775…
