I imagine it often. To me the barriers are: lack of a global government and capitalism and it's mechanisms that favour anti-social actors and behaviours.

It is possible. So long as the federal government doesn't bury us all under their decades long corruption before the possibility of reasonable transition happens. Unfortunately saying weak platitudes and siphoning the value of the American dollar seems more important to them.
