1/ When Moses first told the Israelites they could leave Egypt but they better go quickly, they didn’t jump up and down with excitement. Their basic attitude was “We’re slaves here, but we have enough to survive. Who knows if we can survive the desert?”

2/ That’s one of the most important points in the story. Sometimes we’re tempted to stay in a condition that we know is limited because it feels safer than making a break for some unknown destination of freedom. Moses is the voice in all of us saying, “Come on, you can do this.”

Salvation is within, not without.

You guys are *still* defending the position that "real" socialism hasn't been tried yet, huh? Just need to find your prophet who'll make it work *this* time, liberating us all from toil and exploitation?

The people you are talking to are in an economic class that has no real survival/comfort-related problems - the Professional Managerial Class who comprise the DNC base. They are fine; they probably will be fine for a while. (next tweet)

A mystery: Plan a hike 300 miles NE from Goshen (Cairo) to Canaan (Jerusalem?) You start off by going south to cross the Red Sea? People take about 30 days to walk Camino Santiago, and that's 500 miles. Moses took 40 years? Was it always overcast? Major plot hole there.

To me as an old white guy this means that I can, we can, live in a place that is multi cultural, multi racial, multi ethnic, multi whatever and it will be alright. I will not lose whatever I fear losing.
