Much of what we call a mental health crisis is a poverty crisis, a lack of opportunity crisis, a loss of social connections crisis. The political system calls it a mental health crisis to displace attention away from its true cause and avoid taking responsibility for creating it.

You are totally on point here. Unfortunately this system is based on greed and who's up in the economic ladder. People are not being seen as human beings at all.

A favorite response in the art world to this is a generalized call for "care" which, if not scaled to institutional levels, leads only further into individualizing the debt on ill arrangements at the structural dimension.
