People who are forced to work at jobs they hate, desperate to keep that job even though it robs them of life-force more than it pays them in money, who nevertheless need it because it is the only way to survive, are in a very real way not free.

The Protestant work ethic which exalts the goodness of never missing work n working till you die is unhealthy. Someone commented on how weird it is that Americans always ask what u do for a living first as if that defines you. What does that tell you?

That's why I don't understand @amazon warehouse management philosophy. They seem old school. Why do you think there were unions in the first place? Punishing and impersonal work environments beg workers to demand better working conditions. Terrible and stupidly short sighted. 🙄

That's me in a nutshell. There is nowhere for a 61 year old to go at this point. SSI doesn't give me enough to survive but I'm very disabled but I have to work

The reality is the average worker actually has it worse now than the peasants of yore. They had much more vacation after they harvested. They didn’t have to try and find affordable housing and keep up with transportation costs. The expectations are unsustainable w/o a living wage

People are free to switch jobs. People are free to realize jobs don't have to be anything more than a way to pay the bills. People can find joy and satisfaction in things outside of their jobs. People would be happier realizing that their spirits are resilient and strong.

It's true. People suffer and fall apart mentally/physically working to survive. I work with folks 60+ old in labor intensive jobs who are afraid to retire and lose their meager health benefits. #M4A #WealthTax newretirement.com/retirement…

I'm trapped in a job paying what I made more than 25 years ago! Expenses are higher. I'm 25 years older which makes it harder to find a job.

"it robs them of life-force more than it pays them in money" How accurate. I felt that.
