People who are forced to work at jobs they hate, desperate to keep that job even though it robs them of life-force more than it pays them in money, who nevertheless need it because it is the only way to survive, are in a very real way not free.

How will your ultimate society function when everyone is "doing what they love", which is primarily sitting on the couch eating junk food? Who will make that junk food? Or build the couch? Not to mention collect the garbage and maintain the roads?

Capitalism is the modern form of slavery, rather than chains, low wages are used. In US, healthcare tied to employer is an additional chain. Capitalism is not a viable socioeconomic system bc all wealth will accumulate at very top. See Thomas Piketty “capitalism in 21st century”

Marianne, at the end of the work day are they allowed to go to a home of their choosing? Are they allowed to see their families? I’d say while working a job you don’t like is not pleasant it definitely does not qualify as not free.

Ha Marianne. You seem to be leading very far away from Course in Miracles indeed. All we need is to make choices and believe in it. Not many people are born in obstacle free life. I do agree that we shall support the survival of all, but that doesn’t address free choice

If workers owned the means of production and distribution after workplace, how to say and how their workplace operates in a democratic way, and made what their labor is really worth then they wouldn't hate their jobs as much. Working is just a means to fund your life.

which is why we need to abolish capitalism and embrace collectivism and the things that actually matter: health, climate/environment, relationships, education, etc. which really can never happen under capitalism.
