This was me through my teens, 20s, and 30s. Yes, I was on my own as a young teenager - no mom or dad, guardian or husband or anyone helping. I worked 2 jobs, paid bills and rent on my own from age 13 on. In my 40s I said enough, and started writing. I'm broke, but happier.

This is correct. But the implication that this is because their employer (or anyone else) is doing something evil or neglecting something they should be doing, is false. It is because of the laws of physics.
Something that has been recognized by critics and opponents of classical liberalism and its successor neoliberalism for over two hundred years, whether they be socialist, conservative (yes, there have been some if elsewhere than the US), and eventually, liberal.

Freedom is an illusion in the 3rd dimension. The concept is used to manipulate people not set them free.
