Either we think people are inherently evil & we need to protect ourselves & loved ones from evil in society; or we think people are inherently good and we need to foster that good in every way possible to create a good society. That’s the philosophical struggle underneath it all.

Thinking people are inherently good doesn’t mean you fail to recognize evil. You do recognize it & you see the need not only to protect yourself but also to push back against it. But your energy and resources go more towards fostering good so that new forms of evil do not emerge.

There are people in this world that seem to foster trouble of some kind whereever they go ... I do my best to stay away from them ... if I can't ... I treat them with kid gloves ... And if necessary ... I can also CHOOSE to push back ... but that needs to be a conscious choice!

It's more "my Tribe is good, but I am afraid of your tribe. Therefore I need guns and laws (restricting your tribe from voting) and thus harming my tribe." Plus "There isn't enough for all, so your having any, means I have less." It's fear based thinking.

We know scientifically that a baby in the womb that's mother endures great stress will have significant brain changes to make them more reactive to face a hostile environment a lotta behavior is pure chemistry & environment not deeper moral equations We should treat folk fairly

I live by this mantra every day. I won't pretend to not feel any anger, stress, nor frustration... Yet every person feels this to one extent or another, why most people put up a "tougher" front. In the end, I believe we all want the best of humanity. Lets make it happen.
