Either we think people are inherently evil & we need to protect ourselves & loved ones from evil in society; or we think people are inherently good and we need to foster that good in every way possible to create a good society. That’s the philosophical struggle underneath it all.

Thinking people are inherently good doesn’t mean you fail to recognize evil. You do recognize it & you see the need not only to protect yourself but also to push back against it. But your energy and resources go more towards fostering good so that new forms of evil do not emerge.

Or, we recognize that people have both great evil and good within them. And that there are no substitutes for character in the individual and order in the social for maximizing societal safety. The question then becomes how much space we carve out for individual liberty.

Apparently you’re not very informed about all the Child trafficking, Sexual Predators and other violent offenders littered across Society who live to prey on the vulnerable for sport. I guess we should love them and turn the other cheek? They choose evil

While I agree with your premise (the inherent goodness of people) the reality is that there are truly evil people in this world... sad thing is, many of them are the very ones fighting for the 2A protections to be upheld.

Good philosophy stems from knowing the evil in us.

Not really "philosophical "at all. The war is between good and evil. That is all there is to it. Simple. Definite. No need for any other explanation.

Yes, and I'm an optimist. I believe the world gets more beautiful everyday. That's why it's called "Enlightened anarchism". Socialism and Communism (bureaucracies) are NOT the answer...

I believe people are not inherently evil and if so what about certain Capitalists and the rich whose decisions have created lives of misery and even death for many
74+ million Americans voted for a racist dictator. People are not inherently good.

WRONG. Some people are evil, some people are good, and some people are just kind of meh. We're a giant jungle gym filled with high-functioning apes. You're making a religious argument even though you I doubt you realize it.
