Either we think people are inherently evil & we need to protect ourselves & loved ones from evil in society; or we think people are inherently good and we need to foster that good in every way possible to create a good society. That’s the philosophical struggle underneath it all.

Thinking people are inherently good doesn’t mean you fail to recognize evil. You do recognize it & you see the need not only to protect yourself but also to push back against it. But your energy and resources go more towards fostering good so that new forms of evil do not emerge.

The results are deceptive I'll admit. People come off as some pretty ugly elements. Its irrefutable but as I've aged I fully acknowledge it is not completely of their doing. Some can help it though. Some choose not to. Some have no inkling of what sovereignty feels like though

or, we're at the mercy of pollution and random parasites invading our brains whether we know it or not. Some things are not as simple as much as we'd love them to be.

People are not inherently good or evil. People can choose. Turning away is a choice towards evil. Turning towards, each act of charity, every helping hand given are choices towards good.

There’s a solid 5% who are clinical psychopaths or sociopaths (fact). Nothing to do with good & evil. The capitalism system in the US promotes people who demonstrate sociopathic tendencies or clinical illness.

We're locked in our homes. Media is telling us we all hate each other. And we have to keep our smiles covered, like forever. Can't make progress that way.

I think the latter is true but I also think we're failing to foster that so severely that it's made it seem as if the former were the truth.

Most people are inherently good...some people are inherently evil

I think of it as person interacting tends toward light, while a person isolated tends toward darkness, so we need to foster interaction.

Or we think they are capable of being both, and most often are something of a mixture of both, with one being dominant in some degree over the other. The way to find out is not to arm oneself and/or hunker down inside a mental bunker but to openly and clear-sightedly engage

I think people are both and we need to do both. Everyone has good and evil in them. No one is 100% good and no one is 100% bad.
