1/ Getting money out of politics is the greatest moral challenge of our generation. Its undue influence is the cancer underneath all the other political cancers that beset us.

2/ Keep your eye on @jontester, who is re-introducing bills to create a constitutional amendment that would overturn the Citizens United decision and declare that corporations are not people. Until then, corporations and billionaires will influence our government more than we do.

It’s never going to be removed, sadly. How many generations are they going to snuff out? They’re almost done with the second one...

Given the current make up of the SCOTUS Citizens United will not going to be overturned anytime soon. But as soon as it’s a liberal Supreme Court again, it will be the first thing to go.

A constitutional amendment that would overturn the Citizens United decision and declare that corporations are not people ... sounds like a great idea! ... DO IT!

Corporations are NOT people. They can be sued, like people can be sued, if they injure you. A constitutional amendment? WTF. What will this amendment DO, pray tell? Make it impossible to sue a corporation for damages?

We need a comprehensive bill to establish a proper legal standing for corporations, with both rights and responsibilities to the public good, with regulations, oversight and speedy legal remedies for individual and class actions.
I'd be in favor of wiping Citizens United away. Corporations are not people. They are represented by a CEO, board, COO etc.. These people... may vote, once, however they like.

Politics is the cancer. Build healthy cells. Not political ones. They will meet at some point. That's simple geometry and, allegorically, biology. In order not to kill the organism by removing the cancer, more healthy cells are needed. BUILD HEALTHY CELLS!
