85% of brain development occurs before the age of five. We should massively front-end our national resources in the direction of early childhood.

Logic and critical thinking aren't taught until college level. We should start teaching those things in grade school.

Do you know what headstart has taught us? It's that we can close the education gap in just the span of preschool...but it opens back up as soon as those children move on to failing/underfunded schools. Yes, invest in the first 5yrs, but you better be willing to keep investing.

Maybe then we would have a more conscious and intelligent government in the future. Maybe big business wouldn鈥檛 be so needy and greedy, etc etc. and on and on.

To celebrate 100 years of Rotary in JHB and Africa, we are embarking on a program to deal with malnourishment in early childhood development to improve the cognitive ability of our children - if we do not deal with this we face generations condemned to poverty.
