Every public school in America should be a palace of a culture, learning and the arts. The fact that that seems to anyone like a pipe dream is a measure of how disconnected we are as a society from the values that should guide us.

The anemic state of our schools and their carefully channeled curricula, characterized by an absence of arts, a mistrust of dialectic, and blatantly propagandist subversions of history, was key to our decision to unschool. Not an easy choice or endeavor, but a brilliant one.

It's not about learning at all. It's about test scores. We like measurable things in the USA. You can't measure souls.
