The majority of our educational funding is still based on property taxes. The denial of a world-class education to every child is a passive form of oppression.

And in Jersey City, where tax abatements have been handed out like Candy to billionaire developers for luxury high rises, the wealthiest residents don’t pay a dime in property taxes. The burden falls on many already living below the poverty level.
