When the Republicans want something - like, say, huge tax cuts for the very rich - they don’t just pass a fraction of the tax cut and say “Well at least it was a start.”

Actually, they do exactly that. They would prefer no taxes at all but realize it’s unattainable. The Overton window moves both ways. Right now, it’s moving left. “Go big or go home” should not be our message. Go big when you can but don’t ever go home should be our motto.

I mean, there’s a big difference between eliminating poverty and tax cuts. One takes a very straightforward legislative action, the other takes more — just adding more money to the relief bill wouldn’t completely get rid of poverty.
