They brag about cutting childhood poverty in half as though that’s the best they can do. No it is not the best they can do.

The US does have some serious issues re: hunger and food security, despite the fact that we waste a lot of food. We could do better with housing, since there are vacant houses and a lot of homeless people. The US healthcare system is the worst among equivalent countries.

Maybe quit spending on weapons and no one would be living in poverty.

Seems like it will help cutting poverty temporary. In plain words it's a band aid. Till wages are increased and tax brackets changed with the increase we will be back to square one eventually.

They say it cuts it in a half, but the numbers just don't match. Be that as it may, the very fact that child poverty is used as a measure of anything in the "richest country" in the world makes me vomit to begin with. The fact that is now normalized signals the end of the US

yeah lets get realistic.. they are NOT cutting child poverty in half.. maybe if they passed the 15/hr like joe promised.

lets just pretend that biden never promised 15/hr min wage & the dems dont have control of everything. How does that money that is earmarked 4 poor families & thats supposed 2 cut child poverty in half, how is this achieved if the total sum is not even enough 2 cover rent arrears

It's also a LIE. The poverty line hasn't been updated since 1963, when average rent was 13% of income.

No. There’s no “mission accomplished” messaging here. It’s several leaps forward and Biden always acknowledges there’s more work to do, but help IS here. Not finished by any means.

Maybe you weren't paying attention, but 8 Dems voted against the minimum wage hike.😂

“Cut childhood poverty in half”... that’s as valid an accomplishment as the wage increase that they did. Neither of those happened with that bill.
