You know why Dr. Seuss wrote some bigoted stuff? Because he lived in 1937. He also wrote wonderful things like The Lorax - conservatives, make sure you read that to your kids! Back then, bigotry was unfortunately normal. We don't hate him for it, we just don't want to repeat it.
I can tell that from memory. We had a summer camp, dad would often do that one for sunday "services", as the "Sermon"
