Exactly!!
Correct me if I’m wrong, but did Democrats negotiate down the stimulus relief only to get zero Republican votes anyway?

"Democrats" suggests the whole party agreed to changes to the relief bill. Given that we only have a 51/50 majority in the Senate, I think we should all get used to some level of compromise and not assume that all Democrats are on board with every change. $1.8T is damn good bill!

It had a lot to do with Manchin, but it is a classic politcal ploy. The Democrats wanted the narrative to be that no $15/hr min wage and no $2,000 check is because of Republicans rather than people realizing neither had the full support of their own party.

Dems negotiated down the stimulus package because fellow corporate Dems could not get behind the bill as it was originally written. 8 refused the $15 minimum wage increase. 2 rewrote the unemployment benefit.

This is a nazbol take that doesn't take into corporate democrats that fought against 15 min.

That's why democrats lose so frequently.

The negotiating was with one of their own, Joe Manchin, so the GOP wasn’t involved..
