I've come to love Marianne. She is like our "spiritual but not religious" conscience, continually grounding things in morality. A necessary function. We forget that even the oft misunderstood Adam Smith was a "moral philosopher" before "Wealth of Nations."
Yes it will help people recover and that is good. But what will they recover TO? We still need to address the structural changes needed to give the average American a fair shot at a decent life. Too many do not have that. Back to you, Senator Schumer.

No, Thank you. We are social animals. Imbued w/ compassion. All interactions must be governed by some "moral code." We've done everything we can to pander to individualism and competition, while undermining solidarity and community in this iteration of neoliberal capitalism.
