The problem with a capitalist ethos dominating govt is that of itself it has no conscience. It is the job of government to regulate the system, not serve the system so it can exploit the people. Regulated capitalism has done great good; unregulated capitalism has done great harm

Pt1 An article about countries in which the people are happy with the way democracy is working. When the people in those countries are polled they overwhelmingly said they feel their representatives are working on their behalf to make the lives of the citizenry better.

Absolutely correct. You’d make a great Senator.
It is rhe job of government to stay out of the way. Capitalism is a way of SOCIETY, not government.any government regulating daily lives has failed as a system.

Every manmade system is flawed because humans are flawed. Sure, we can perform math computations, crunch all the numbers, everything looks good on paper, when we put it into practice there's too much collateral damage.

That's silly. The USSR began as almost entirely illiterate, peasant population, and by the 1960s was the world's other superpower. Capitalism is always worse at producing goods and spreading wealth than even perverse forms of socialism.

Where & when has 'regulated capitalism' done 'great good'? 'Capitalism', whatever the preceding adjective, is just another name for systemic inequality. Any 'great good' coming out of that can only be short term & accidental.

Regulating capitalism is like treating a covid patient with a cough drop. It takes away the pain temporarily. I would argue that this is necessary but no one could argue its sufficient.

The government hasn't exactly shown that it has a conscience either It's the power that corrupts not the name of whatever you call something.
