Poverty seems to be a key ingredient to help realize the so called American Dream for those that make the poor believe they will one day reach that dream if they keep hamster wheeling, just barely making ends meet.
I would like to know how much closer we are to eradicating homelessness, food, clothing, and medical insecurity than we were fifty years ago, when Dr. King (accurately) proclaimed we had reached a point in history where humanity finally had the means to do it.
Maybe this why we don't... keeping people poor is big business
Overdraft fee industry: $11 billion/year
Check cashing industry: $36 billion/year
Pay Day Loan industry: $9 billion/year
Late fees. Cash bail. Tickets fees and fines.

my son and i had an epic argument about this post.....we have to define poverty....
i believe in this country, we could cloth and feed and house every individual---- as a birthright, as a citizen---through taxation...that would eradicate poverty.....but we don do that....Why?
i really dont feel like being a peach but, whats wrong with the middle class? the price has been set. as long as you do this...... live here.....work this way......look alike......nobody will bother you. because your doing what your supposed to
