Manchin and Sinema say "No" and the whole party bows to them; progressives keep saying "Yes" so the party doesn't bow to them ever. Can anyone explain this to me?

Progressives have no voice in the Democratic Party.

It’s called playing politics and progressives play in a way that ensures they have zero power.

Take an intro to American politics class and you’ll understand. It sucks, but until we start winning senate seats, it is what it is.

If Manchin throws a hissy fit and switches to GQP, Mitch becomes Majority Leader. That would be catastrophic. Minimum wage ruled ineligible for budget reconciliation by Parliamentarian. It can be taken up later. This is historic legislation that, overall, helps the poor. 👍

Power concedes nothing without a demand. None of this would be confusing if you just acknowledged the obvious. The interests that the party leadership represents are in direct conflict with the interests of working and middle class Americans.

Remains a total mystery to me why we have a ‘free pass’ sector at all, but apparently we do. Shocking, still, right?

I think you know why. The Democratic Party is just a Controlled Opposition Party affording the illusion of choice for the hapless masses
