I stand by what I said: commentary about a female Senator's body language, clothing, or physical demeanor does not belong in a serious media outlet.

Replying to @HannahLHurley
It could just as easily be argued that that Senator’s body language, clothing and physical demeanor did not belong in a serious Senate chamber. In any case, it was her vote that was the most offensive thing.

And why draw attention to yourself and be dramatically flip about a vote like that? It makes zero sense, has no upside and draws into question her self-awareness. If you all couldn’t anticipate this backlash after the optics of that vote ... you are in the wrong profession.

Marianne, if she did the same celebratory flourish when casting a vote to HELP working people instead of screwing them, she would be a hero and we'd be talking about how awesome it was. The flourish was repulsive because of what it celebrated, not its lack of decorum.

If her vote was the most offensive thing then it's strange to be commenting on the other things. She was one of 7!!! Dem senators who voted no yet she's the only one under attack--it's because of clothes/mannerisms, i.e., sexism.

Oh come on. Of course body language and physical demeanor matter. They’re part of how we communicate. If you or the senator or her press sec or anyone really doesn’t understand that - or worse, if you or they do but are gaslighting us - you or they should not be in public service

I think we should read Return to Love again.
If she did all of that theater to vote yes, people would've thought it was great
Sinema’s body language and demeanor appalled me. Her vote outraged me. Either way, I’m furious. She needs to apologize. And maybe grow up. @SenatorSinema

Maybe certain affections of Sinema’s are annoying to some, but as Ms. Williamson (who is a gorgeous woman and perfect dresser) indicates, it’s her vote that’s disreputable. We are sobering up from Trump’s five-year clown act. It takes time.

How about you focus on pressuring the House Progressives who have TONS of power right now to get the $15 AND MORE back into the bill in reconciliation. alanbounville.substack.com/p…
