You can’t be a democracy and an oligarchy at the same time. Either the country belongs to all of us or the country belongs only to a few of us. This is the deepest existential question about who we are and who we want to be.

While the Civil War helped end slavery, it did not end the racism at the heart of slavery. We are still dealing with today. No matter what, we can never give up on democracy. The alternative is too horrible to imagine.

I don't think we should dignify a plutocracy by calling it an oligarchy.

And to understand this, we have to have a basic education of being well wisher of all around, else, proclaimed university degree s aren't of a use.

It's only a definition al rupoblem. Defined differently a monarchy can be for the people and a democracy can be for no one. In the latter's vacuum a few takes power.

I beg to differ. I’d say that’s exactly what Monaco is. But I get what you mean. Also I don’t know about the accuracy of those claims. Are there poor people in Monaco?

You also cannot have democracy and capitalism at the same time
1/ Elizabeth Warren, who has professed her faith in markets, "if they have a cop on the beat", fundamentally cannot see the contradictions between capitalism and democracy nytimes.com/2019/10/28/us/po…

I like to think of us as a Constitutional Democratic Republic. But you are right, becoming an oligarchy and Covid sped it up. Corporations and big govt teaming up to crush small and medium size businesses, working people, and freedom to boot😢
