You can’t be a democracy and an oligarchy at the same time. Either the country belongs to all of us or the country belongs only to a few of us. This is the deepest existential question about who we are and who we want to be.

Amen. Bravo. Very well said. Thank you @marwilliamson! Understanding our relationship to the planet we inhabit & each other is a profoundly important existential question. We’ve begun to see the global consequences of a shortsighted focus of putting profits over people & planet.

We breathe the same air, drink the same water, tread the same earth. Perhaps if more of our collective attention were directed towards mutual caring for our common home, the Mother Earth that sustains us all, then we’d rediscover what connects us all. We share an elemental bond.

America has been very clear on defining who the “Us” is...if “we” want the “Us” to be “all”...then we have to get real and atone for the hypocrisy that has been perpetuated in this country before we can build better.

At the moment the country certainly doesn't belong to the people, it belongs to the so-called 'elite' that drives the narratives that have become all pervasive. Real democracy is something completely different, and is non-existent in the US at the moment.
