FDR didn’t just rescue people; he brought structural change to the system so people wouldn’t fall back into the same economic pits. It’s going to take more than his painting over the mantlepiece to make the comparison real.

He expanded federal power beyond its intended dimensions. He broke the two term tradition, which doesn't seem like much, but it's a step toward authoritarianism that resulted in the 22nd amendment. He used an executive order to interned Japanese-American citizens. Not so great.
