FDR didn’t just rescue people; he brought structural change to the system so people wouldn’t fall back into the same economic pits. It’s going to take more than his painting over the mantlepiece to make the comparison real.

It’s not just meaningless and symbolic, because it does help millions of people. In that sense the benefit is not to be underestimated. But it doesn’t of itself interrupt the basic trajectory of oligarchy. The Republicans started it but the Democrats still haven’t stopped it.

The republicans started it back with Reagan...still haven’t done anything about it besides enable it and expand the power of the oligarchy. We cannot fight this with nicer capitalism, the oligarchs can only be fought by the united working class on a socialist program.

I admire Marianne Williamson like a mother. Her message of Love is literally visionary and practically possible. But when she credits Democrats when they throw us a pittance like this, I remember we are all human. I then also remember/realize(?) why the Party let her on stage.
