FDR didn’t just rescue people; he brought structural change to the system so people wouldn’t fall back into the same economic pits. It’s going to take more than his painting over the mantlepiece to make the comparison real.

Ms. Williamson, have you ever heard of Executive Order 9066? That's the EO signed by FDR that interned (and confiscated the property of) 120,000 American citizens of Japanese heritage. Yeah, he was quite the guy.

He (and the US Aristocracy) also feared a fast growing Socialist movement in the US and took many of his platform ideas, from the Socialist party platform. He rescued US Capitalism in the end.
