I have family in TX. They’re not “paranoid recluses” but rather responsible citizens who care about themselves & those around them. Irresponsible reopening endangers them. The insanity of endowing public policy with the ethos of pure selfishness is nothing TX should be proud of.

There should be a federal law that grants permits to people who want to walk around unsafe. But if they get Covid. They should be forcibly quarantined at home, receive treatment and Billed the full amount without Insurance for all the resources used to help them recover.
