If the US gov’t wanted to eradicate poverty, it could do so much to eradicate poverty. If it wanted to eradicate hunger, it could do so much to eradicate hunger. If it wanted to eradicate illiteracy, it could do so much to eradicate illiteracy. The lesson here? It really doesn’t.

The US government’s only concern is to eradicate all threats to the plutocracy. Poverty is a tool to keep us in despair and unable to respond to the tyranny of the 1%.

Poverty dropped until the government declared war on it. In an age compulsory education, illiteracy is a choice. Central planning does not work. Handouts do not work. Only the incentive to succeed, and the possibility of failure, works. Welfare will never provide that.
