In the 1970s the average American worker got good benefits and could afford to own a home and a car, take a vacation every year and send their kids to college. Reaganomics ended all that.google.com/amp/s/www.cbsnews…

Yikes, let's not idealize any 'golden years,' that economy still marginalized and oppressed millions. Can't just blame the reagan bogeyman for mucking things up, the system was rotten at the core before he accelerated the rot

One of the more depressing aspects of The Simpsons is realizing that when the show started it WAS realistic that Homer would own a home and car and Marge wouldn’t need to work as he, a non college educated man, could afford of all that working at a power plant.

78k home purchased 16% interest rate worth 900k today with 3% rate. Go figure. 1970s was not all rosy for workers thou. We have a system that allows few to manipulate many. Thank god we don't have a caste system but we do have wage slavery and inequality in opportunities.

Except it didn’t. Capitalism did that and it is by design/structural. Poverty existed before Reagan. Wealth has been consolidating and concentrating since colonization and slavery.

Reagan was just the spokesperson of this carnage. He wasn't smart enough to come up with this evil. He was just the right's puppet.
