Why did we all bust our as*es getting Democrats elected to the presidency and in control of both houses of Congress if they can't do a simple thing like raise the minimum wage to $15 an hour?

The minimum wage should be raised to $500 an hour. Well, why not? If the government can arbitrarily decide how much employers should pay employees, why stop at $15? Why not make it $500? And I am sure somebody will say, well, why stop at $500, why not make it $1000, or $2000?
