I’m trying to think of a species that systematically destroys its own habitat, fails to care for and nourish its young, acts in total contradiction to the natural world - yet continues to survive and thrive. So far I haven’t been able to come up with one.

I've actually thought about this for years. I've reached a conclusion that humans have the privilege to be destructive toward themselves because the species is so far advanced compared to all other species. I'm afraid that humans will start to devolve for this reason.

This is what some zealots think is meant by ‘we have dominion’. We are not continuing to succeed though, Marianne. We have failed miserably and our dwindling resources+habitat will be no more, unless we act NOW! You know this, yet you don’t lead with the necessary urgency. Why?

The only reason other species don’t cause massive environmental damage is because outside forces control their population. Predators, starvation and disease no longer kill enough humans to matter.

Runts of the litter are sometimes left to die in the wild. And I hear mice and gerbils will eat their babies.
