The remedy is so clear. To turn the tide away from authoritarianism, we need to meet the needs of the people and build trust. Trust defeats fear defeats authoritarianism. The pandemic makes the remedy ever more crystal clear. Ex: AOC style leadership. Fierce care and compassion.
