It is international law that the people of an occupied territory have a right to the resources of that land. On that issue, Israel in egregious noncompliance. They do not occupy Gaza, by the way, but the blockade is horrible and immoral.

The International Court of Justice in their advisory opinion on the wall (2004) ajudicated that Israel is the occupying power in the West Bank, Gaza and East Jeruselem. All the human rights groups agree with this assessment.

What is this revisionist history? Under international law, a central element of the test for occupation is whether or not the state exercises “effective control” over the territory in question.

How is it not an occupation to surround them with a wall and shoot them when they come near it? Just because there may not be Israeli troops on the streets of Gaza doesn’t mean it’s not occupied. How about this, it’s worse than an occupation, it’s a siege.
