I'm not a parent ... but perhaps the kids need a summer off ... OUTDOORS ... to be mentally ready when school starts again in the Fall.

You know, I just read Harvard did an experimental poetry program showing students from high poverty high schools excelled. They conclude “elite colleges” could do more to increase diversity. I say NO, public education needs to do more. America is so backwards in so many ways.

And...the only ones who seem not traumatized and exhausted are those whom the pandemic and poverty hasn’t hit. Focus on arts for the summer and return fresh (and vaccinated) in the fall.

Idiotic idea! If anything, because scared and lazy teachers have set children back so much in their learning doing much harm 2 them and particularly minority students, we must seriously consider implementing mandatory summer school 2 make up for all the lost time and learning.

My mom and dad who were both educators for forty years held the belief that the traditional summer break did so much harm and set kids back every year. They believed that year round school with periodic breaks would be a more effective approach.

This makes a lot of sense summer camps can be some of the best overall (learning/bonding) experiences that kids can have!!

This past year has been a “summer vacation”. They didn’t learn shit. Instead of socializing, they watched tv and played video games.
