I still don’t know how some people are going to make it without the $2k/mo checks coming in. The eerie, almost surreal silence around it now is the sound of people’s hope turned into despair turned into fury turned into hopelessness turned into resignation turned into tears.

The things Bayard Rustin said about hopelessness in the 1960’s, and how a UBI could restore it - still ring true. The hopelessness is only going to get worse. #UBIBuildsBackBetter - nothing else can even come close. Any approaches without a UBI will fail.

To top it off Americans will have to pay federal & state taxes on the $2K dollars received. It’s a joke.

Time for general strike. If just the minimum wage and gig workers all go on strike, the entire country will come to a halt.

40 years of failed neoliberal policy.... by now We're all used to just barley hanging on. At this point we're not even expecting to get the one time payment. They don't care about working people.

Everyone conveniently forgot Biden’s original platform and stance on things. As the election got closer, he started stealing things from the platforms of the candidates who had fallen. Biden never intended to follow through on the things he said because they weren’t his beliefs.

They are NOT going to make it. They are going to die of COVID when they should be safely at home, or of cold because they lost their home or from other conditions because their nutrition is crap etc.

Gotta love the priorities of our leaders. Stock market drops 10%? We must act now! 10mil out of work? Eh, let's give it some time. Govt needs to create jobs now. This is an emergency. The private sector ain't gonna do it no matter the tax breaks or bailouts you give them.
