1/ As extraordinary a scientific achievement as it is that NASA landed on MARS today, there are serious spiritual and moral dimensions to it that should not be ignored.

2/ Right now we seem on track to take with us to outer space the same consciousness that has done so much to destroy the earth. Space exploration is a magnificent thing; the weaponization of space is a tragic perversion of our values. Yet that is the path that we were on.

3/ Let’s teach our children today not only a deep respect for the scientific feat accomplished by the Mars landing, but also a reverence and awe before all creation...including all planets. Space exploration should make us a more humble, not a more arrogant species.

If you’re worried about the Space Force Guardians of the Galaxy, they don’t even have uniforms yet.

There's an element of Truth to what she's saying. Space travel should help us to cultivate a planetary rather than regional awareness Reading good science fiction in the 1970s did that for me. It changed the way I have saw everything around me, and saved my life later on

Yes, Marianne! I love space, so it was hard to trash Space Force. It got weird when they turned it into a heritage thing. What I want is space exploration and diplomacy in space, not militarization / colonizer mentality

Yes, I was just saying that ~ MAYBE we need to take care of our own planet, people and other species first before we go off to another one with the same problems.

Yes. Humans should remove all their junk from the moon, too, and deep-six all ideas of building colonies or space stations or anything on it. We have no reverence for what we don't yet understand -- and we don't know squat about space and the power of its places.
