1/ As extraordinary a scientific achievement as it is that NASA landed on MARS today, there are serious spiritual and moral dimensions to it that should not be ignored.

2/ Right now we seem on track to take with us to outer space the same consciousness that has done so much to destroy the earth. Space exploration is a magnificent thing; the weaponization of space is a tragic perversion of our values. Yet that is the path that we were on.

3/ Let’s teach our children today not only a deep respect for the scientific feat accomplished by the Mars landing, but also a reverence and awe before all creation...including all planets. Space exploration should make us a more humble, not a more arrogant species.
