1/ As extraordinary a scientific achievement as it is that NASA landed on MARS today, there are serious spiritual and moral dimensions to it that should not be ignored.

2/ Right now we seem on track to take with us to outer space the same consciousness that has done so much to destroy the earth. Space exploration is a magnificent thing; the weaponization of space is a tragic perversion of our values. Yet that is the path that we were on.

3/ Let’s teach our children today not only a deep respect for the scientific feat accomplished by the Mars landing, but also a reverence and awe before all creation...including all planets. Space exploration should make us a more humble, not a more arrogant species.

Sorry but i'm on a high in this moment-the MARS landing was AWESOME! Yes all human exploration and innovation can be exploited for ill gain, space travel included, and we need to ensure the good guys win. But NASA has noble ambitions, and they deserve to celebrate today.

NASA landed on Mars today... A magnificent display of what we can accomplish as a nation when we dream big, join together, and imagine what is possible.

Thanks to all scientists. Thanks for the Gift of science, enabling us to understand the mysteries of God's creation. There is no contradiction between science and faith. Listen to Br. Guy Consolmagno, S.J. youtube.com/watch?v=kmU2gDbP…

I don't believe this batch of humans is ready. Why would we treat new lands differently than we do this one? Mars doesn't need Coca Cola signs, piles of trash & nasty foreigners who kill each other over fossil fuel & material gain?
