You do realize that prices *have* to rise to keep up with increased demand, right? It's literally supply and demand. Prices have to rise so that supply increases and equilibrium is met. Otherwise there would be shortages and demand would not be met
This is capitalism completely disconnected from any ethical consideration. Charging people in Texas more for energy right now is morally criminal - especially since they have none! And no, this is not “just the way things are.”

Again, prices fluctuate based on supply and demand. @ERCOT_ISO recognize that there is a shortage right now due to a demand shock. So prices have to rise so that supply increases and equilibrium is met. Please learn economics. Start here: core-econ.org/
