Just confirmed @SenTedCruz and his family flew to Cancun tonight for a few days at a resort they've visited before. Cruz seems to believe there isn't much for him to do in Texas for the millions of fellow Texans who remain without electricity/water and are literally freezing.

I hope this runs on the front page of every newspaper in Texas. People there have been so bandoozled, so ill served. I hope this week’s tragedy will lead to a political awakening.

Texas should elect @_SemaHernandez_ . She'd never abandon anyone in their time of need. And because she never accepted any corporate money she'd only be beholding to her constituents. As a bonus she believes in science and understands why we need to address the #ClimateEmergency

Has there been a political awakening in California during their deadly rolling summer blackouts? Those aren’t even triggered by single weather events, and go on throughout the summer. I’d love to see how California would handle a statewide deep freeze like this.

Please explain to me what a Senator is able to do regarding the power grid that the governor is not able to do? And he’s on vacation. I’d leave the state too. Better than going to a local hotel. Over 70% of the country is under heavy winter weather so Cancun is definitely better.

Ideological bias: Conservatives are spinning this as a failure of green energy. Liberals are spinning this as a sign of conservative heartlessness that Cruz didn't stay home and -- what?! Exactly what could he have done that he couldn't do remotely from Cancun? Reality check.
