Texas energy grid has been a quintessential example of privatization and deregulation at the expense of public investment and concern for the common good. Now that it’s caused calamity the good old boys behind it are deflecting, lying & spinning to avoid responsibility.

The grid is fine, demand is just greatly outstripping supply. It happens it's California every summer.

I just finished a book about the great Mississippi flood of 1927. Interesting parallels regarding not avoiding disaster and disaster relief that follows.

Quebec is also on its own grid. It wasn't the grid that failed, but gas power plants that weren't designed for cold weather. Certainly the case can be made that government should mandate that they can operate down to -5F.

They are only interested in power and wealth for themselves. They don't care about the people of Texas.

They’re also doing their best to point to the failures of California’s PG&E, another privatized energy company.

I can’t believe Texas officials are getting away with this behavior. It has to be a reflection of letting someone else get away continued blatant lies.

In Puerto Rico the Neoliberal governor @pedropierluisi is on the road to the same mistake as Texas, with a privatization scheme of the electric system. For years they divert resources to justify a private takeover by @lumaenergypr. Classic corruption!

If democrats were competent they would’ve been 24/7 on tv airways putting the blame on the deregulation and the governor and the state republicans to plant seeds for democrats to win next elections. But they are just as corrupt so they are ok with the situation
