Rugged individualism is an upside of the American character, but over the last few decades we’ve allowed to become rugged narcissism - at the expense of peace, justice, and people’s lives.

I’ve been noticing the same. A myopic point of view that ultimately hurts everyone, including those hyper focused on their individual self interest.

Individualism is inherent to character, any one's. American greed is catalyst for its narcissitic tendencies. Corporate globalism is the distribution channel for that character flaw. #tuesdaymotivations

Narcissistic people work together that's why. They all have the same goal. Plus they need each other to get rid of people that aren't narcissistic.

Rugged individualism is great when it allows for innovation that serves the organism (community) as a whole. Not when innovation becomes a cancer, seeking to exist for its own sake and consume the community that nurtured it.
