Born and raised in Houston, I know well the economic call to “Deregulate! Privatize! Deregulate! Privatize!” that came upon the state like a perverse new religion in the 70’s & 80’s and led directly to what’s happening now. Beware, America.

The perverse religion is that people should be able to make decisions for their own businesses? No, the perverse religion is thinking people in gov't who seek to rule somehow have nobler intentions than the people who actually create the goods & services.

If utilities were publicly owned instead of privately owned, #Texas wouldn’t be suffering nearly as much as they are now. In 2011 the natural gas industry in Texas was warned about their lack of winterization processes by the FERC, but they ignored the warning due to extra cost.
